Windows Azure and Office 365 – Getting a free trial of Office365 and Windows Azure

Share this:

In this first article we will go over the process to subscribe on both Office365 and Windows Azure, and after that in our following Tutorials we will continue our journey to synchronize the on-premises Active Directory with WAAD (Windows Azure Active Directory).

Sign-up for a Free Trial of Office365…

Office365 doesn’t require any credit card information and having it first makes our lives easier when subscribing to Azure because the Azure Directory will get the Office365 name and so forth.

The first step is to sign up for the free Trial, we can go directly to this page and then click on Try now

In the following page we need to fill out all the information for that new subscription.

A key section of this first form is the section Create your new user ID. Here we can define the name of the first user and the company name and make sure to add a strong password since that is the account that will manage your subscription.

Note: By default the company name that we decided here will be added to and that will be your default domain and cannot be deleted afterwards however you don’t have to use it as long as you use other Domains (Public ones that you may have it).

You  will need also to prove that you are human by verifying some random characters and finally we need to hit the button create my account. After that you will be in the Office 365 admin center and from there you can create mailbox and manage your organization. However since that is your first log on, a new page will pop up and it will ask you an alternate e-mail address and a phone number (please fill out that correctly because you can use to recover your password), and then hit save and continue.image

Here we go! You are in the main page which completes our requirements for Office365 for now. Please do not go ahead and configure Domain, users and all that stuff because we will be managing all the synchronization from Azure.

Signing up for a free trial of Windows Azure

You don’t need even to sign of of you current Office365 admin center page, just go to and the following page will be displayed. Click on Sign up for Windows Azure.

In the new page, another form for us, fill out all the required information and on this one we need a valid Credit Card. In that form we can see that the information is already filled out based on the previous registration with Office365. After having filled out all the required information click on sign-up button.

Note: The credit card won’t be charged automatically and we will have 30 days and $220 credits available during our trial.

You may receive the following page and just wait a little bit for the subscription process to be completed, then after completion you should go to Portal and you will have access to the main page of Azure.

Are you still thinking about your Credit Card information there? No worries, you can always click on Credit Status located at the top center of the page. If you look closely we can see the AndersonPatricio Info which is the Directory being used by Office365 at the back.
